Laser made in Germany
The development and production of our laser systems and the CEPHEUS laser beam source is located exclusively in Germany.
Our experts have more than two decades of experience in the field of sophisticated laser applications.
Laser processing of plastics
- The marking of components is now commonplace in almost every plastics industry. Conventional methods such as printing with ink are often used.
Industry requirements
- In some areas of the plastics technology industry, certain requirements are placed on the marking of components in order to meet quality standards. These include permanent legibility throughout the entire product life cycle, high precision and good legibility, even on a small scale.
Process requirements
- Laser technology offers an ideal method of meeting the quality requirements for the above-mentioned marking requirements. Pulsed laser beam systems in combination with scanner-based beam deflection can be used to create abrasion-resistant markings at high speed in a very flexible way. abrasion-resistant markings can be produced at high speed.
Applications
Laser marking
Applications for plastic laser marking: foaming, carbonizing and cutting
The various processes for laser marking on plastics are based on the absorption of the beam into the material. Depending on the type of plastic and other factors, different laser beam sources and laser parameters are suitable for implementing the process.
Due to their low thermal conductivity, plastics can generally be marked faster than metals, for example. Typical fields of application can be found in the telecommunications, automotive, cosmetics and electronics sectors.
Laser Engraving & Ablation
Marking of transparent plastics or coated films
During engraving, the material is vaporized by means of laser radiation, creating a visible
and clearly perceptible labeling is created. In general, this method is used to mark transparent plastics, which are used in the medical and laboratory sectors, for example.
With coated plastic parts, excellent contrast is achieved by removing the top layer. Material combinations whose upper layer interacts more strongly with the laser light than the carrier material, as is the case with laser foils, for example, are particularly suitable.
